Jeep grand cherokee limited grinding in engine?

Asked by GuruLLTKL Apr 07, 2019 at 11:40 AM about the 1999 Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited 4WD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I had been smelling a hot smell for quite a
while.and when I finally stopped at a gas station i
noticed that there was no oil (put some in)in the
car and it was smelling hot and started making a
grinding sound really bad upon acceleration and
when driving .i finally parked it and after that the
battery died (which was brand new) after jumping
it ran for a minute and than the grinding gets worse
the battery would not hold a charge and the car
wouldnt idle and shut off .

At this point you should take it to a mechanic, and be prepared for the bad news. The grinding noise could be coming from the engine, transmission, or one of the belt driven accessories.

Yeah its been two months was gpnna replace the engine but it is now at a mechanic im prepared to replace the engine but its hard to find the engine that i have its v8 4.7L.he said something that it might be a bearing or the alternator but it did have a 152000 on it
