it might. you need to find out if the gear ratios are the same. if they aren't it could knock your speedometer off. should be the same general design gm has been using a 10 bolt rear in all their 1/2 ton trucks for a long time. some of the things to check is...are they both drum brakes or disc brakes rear ends if they are different you might run into trouble with the swap. at the very least your gonna have a lot to switch out. not sure on a 1500 but if it has a tow package it could have a larger pinion gear. a single cab 1/2 ton pickup probably has the lightest rear end that you could get for a 1500. probably rear drum brakes and the smaller 8.62 ring gear. look at the casting numbers on the housing and if possible run the vin# and compare.
