Trans and rear end compatibility

Asked by THAIBONES Jul 16, 2020 at 09:33 PM about the 2005 GMC Sierra 1500 SLE Extended Cab LB

Question type: General

I'm doing some upgrades to my 2005 GMC Sierra
1500 SLE 5.3 V8 for towing capacity.  The wife
wants to get a bumper pull camper and "explore"
places, lol.  I already have a performance 4l65e
tranny in route.  It has shift kits, 8 ring gears, super
servo, etc.

My question is...will a 1500hd rear end be
compatible with the 4l65e tranny?  Bolts right in,
with other parts, or impossible?  Thanks in
advance for any help and advice.

I have a class 3 hitch. No electric brakes, but the new transmission will have a cooler

Upgrading the engine and transmission cooling is wise! Depending on the trailer you may want sway control and a weight distributing hitch.

Been all the way down to the block in the engine. Putting out around 355hp. Will have to look into the electric brakes, and sway control. Thanks guys
