The gas gauge in my 2001 GMC Sierra has started to go a bit crazy. It bounces all over the place when I get below a 1/4 tank. I replaced the fuel pump at several hundred dollars. Any other ideas?

i have a 95 gmc sierra 1500, when i start the truck and idle the voltage gauge reads 14 but as soon as i set on the gas the voltage jumps to almost nineteen and the head lights brighten consideraly. a 1 Answer

voltage gauge shows increase to nearly 19 volts and headlights brighten when accelorator is pressed. upon release voltage drops to normal

When I start it it takes around 5 to 10 seconds to idle right and it constantly smells like gas I wanna fix it but what's my problem?
