Vehicle with start but only runs 20-30 seconds then dies

recently installed a new multi function switch, everything went fine, everything worked.  
Couple days later truck dies out of the blue.  I am thinking battery or alternator, so charge
the battery and install new alternation, no avail.  Its getting fuel and the pressure is fine.  
Next day battery dead, thinking maybe direct short but still does not explain why when
fully charged vehicle only runs for a short period.

    My 1992 GMC Sierra will start but will only run for 20 seconds exactly. Change fuel pump, fuel relay, tested computer. Swapped computers, Replaced Cap and it still runs for only 20 seconds.
