Trouble

check the injectors , are they all firing , are they clogged up , how are the plug wires , any vacuum leaks , EGR function , get it to idle first and don't drive it if things aren't right you''ll make things worse

Cat converter is bad and I ordered a new one. Gonna put that in when I get time bc my buddy thinks the converter is clogged. There isn’t much power coming out of the exhaust. We’ll see if that works and I’ll post on here if it works or not.

did you ever scan for trouble codes ?, you replaced all that stuff without results now you're going to spend more . There's a certain smell to cats. that are going bad , yours may be original in that case yeah what's to loose , but they can go bad from poor performance and running too rich , you could probably hollow out the old cat, don't inhale . The ceramic is worth $$ and it will be unrestricted , and you won't spend $80** And , yes . Let us know what happens .

Put in a new universal cat for $40, haven’t found that problem yet. Seems to be fixed. Runs a lot better as well.

good to hear , I have a 94 GMC 1/2 ton sierra with no cats , straight exhaust , came that way and never had a problem with inspections . We can't have any trouble codes and the original "smog" equipment must be there . Not working but just "there " I guess mine didn't come with convertors (doesn't seem right) . If they sniff your exhaust that's another thing and the cat. takes care of a majority of that ..

Just realized it only fixed half the problem. Took it on the High way and got to about 70 and it didn’t wanna go any faster so I gradually gave it more gas and it started making a rattling noise. No pop though. I think the pop was exhaust build up. Kinda discouraging to have this come back again. Any suggestions?

leaking intake gaskets ? A smoke test would show that but it's an elaborate thing to set up , blast some carb cleaner down the throttle stay clear of the MAFF sensor

Still having the rattling so I had a friend hook it up to his computer and take it for s ride. Readings are all jacked up. He’s thinks the rattling is the piston bouncing in the bore or it could be carbon build up. In a day or so we are going to check out the EGR valve, put in a new gasket, and use some old GM top end engine cleaner. We’ll see.

Hey man! After all this time, the problem is definitely fixed. It was the spark plugs! Who woulda thought? They were for a 96 which is when the engine changed. Either they gave me the wrong year plugs or I screwed up and asked for the wrong year. Half of the threads were sitting inside the cylinder. Also, the 8 spark plug’s electrode was snapped.

hope the pistons didn't do that . you have to watch every detail , go easy on it there might be a problem from running those plugs ,
