If battery light is on,and you just replaced alternator, have battery test loaded,to make sure it,s good, then recheck all the connection,s at the alternator, then go have that new alternator checked,1 out of 4 are bad to start with, autozone, advance, and most auto parts.

If it just started, have you tried just disconnecting the battery for about 15 minutes to let everything reset? If you have access to a multimeter, you can start the engine and put the meter on your battery. With the engine running and a functioning alternator the voltage at the battery should be over 14 volts. If it's less, then maybe it's a defective alternator, so you then meter the output of the alternator at the back of it.
