Intermittent No crank no start

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

02 grand caravan 3.8. Clean, solid connection
across the board, New battery, new starter relay,
alternator tested good, as did starter.  Occasionally
when starting will give a single click as though the
starter relay is bad.  No grinding noises indicating
that its hitting the flywheel (at any point),  just the
click.  Turn key off and back on it starts right up
(sometimes takes a few attempts).  Ideas?
(Suspecting the starter brushes or solenoid,  but
confused by the way it passed the on vehicle test)

If it is doing a solid single click I would definitely suspect a starter. Just because it passed the test doesn't mean it's 100% good.

I was still leaning towards that, but mainly wanted to make sure there weren't any other possibilities I was forgetting, getting it ready to make a cross country trip next summer want it in peak condition

Update: only does this when engine is ice cold (1st start of the day) if I run it for 10 minutes and shut it off, I can go back 5 hours later and starts right up with no issue.
