Why does my brake light only work when the brake pedal is pushed down hard?

Asked by David Jan 30, 2017 at 02:15 AM about the 2001 Ford Windstar Cargo Base

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I feel something is not making contact with the braking process. I push the
pedal down as far as it will go and the lights come on. I press on the pedal
slightly light going around a bend no lights, coming to a stop or turning no
lights. But if the van is stationary the pedal is pushed hard the lights will come
on. Please help before I get more tickets.
