Why does the speedometer move up and down when still.

Why does the speedometer speed up and down. Why did I not have reverse
in my 2006 freestar. Turned motor of and restarted engine and had reverse.

Possible input/output sensor issue concerning the transmission/transaxle. Would not be surprised if there is a stored code on the computer. Usually have to have transmission codes read with a Ford brand scanner.
