2006 Ford focus shut off(while driving)and won't turn on

Asked by Piinky Dec 20, 2017 at 02:10 AM about the 2006 Ford Focus ZX4 SE

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I got in my car, turned it on and everything was fine.
I drove it maybe 3 miles down my house and the
vehicle turned off as I was driving. I managed to
pull over with no power only speed i was going at
the time. I pulled over and put the car in park And
turned the switch to off. Went to turn it on and it
won't start. I turn the key all and I get power on the
dash and everything else in the vehicle. I've had the
check engine light on for some years without any
issues....... Help please someone...

Pull the trouble codes so you know what you're dealing with. If you can't move the car then buy an OBD code reader. A basic one will be cheaper than a tow.

Check the gas shutoff switch. Usually in the trunk. Maybe hit pot hole or something banging around set it off. Read owners manual

I am facing the exact same problem. i have read the codes and i have a P2309(Ignition Coil Circuit Low) and P0304(Misfire) which made sense, because when i was driving, my battery light came on first,so power would have been lost to ignition coil and hence P2309 make sense , then mil started blinking which is misfire P0304 made sense. So i though either it would be my battery or the alternator. So i have checked the battery and its not the battery.

Anyone get any updates with this? I was gone on holidays for 10 days and just started up my car. I was driving a few blocks down the road when I came to a red light. I noticed my idle was dropping 500 rpm and then the car started choking. Light turned green and I was able to get through the light but the car was loosing power. As I signalled into a parking lot, the check engine light was blinking and then the oil & battery light came on as the car shut off. Tried to start the car and it doesn’t make any cranking noise. You can hear the fuel pump engaging and all the lights, door locks and key fob works. Any leads on what might have happened? I changed all my spark plugs and coils about 3-6 months ago so I don’t think it has to do with that.
