Did Ford ever offer a solution/remedy for the annodization of the hood on the 2002 Explorer?

Of course after my extended warranty expired I noticed that the front portion of the hood
appeared to be corroding. I took it to the Ford dealer and he said it was a known problem
with the Aluminum hoods. Also said that Ford was doing nothing about this defect. I
contacted Ford and got a negative response. Any recent developments with Ford on this?

There is a fix I used on my 2003 Explorer with the same problem which does not require changing the expensive part which will crack again. Let me know if you want to here about it. Mine has lasted about four years and looks pretty good.
