Can I remove my balance shaft chain ?

So I originally thought one of my timing chains was bad
but now I see that my balance shaft chain is loose my dad
says he thinks we can remove the chain and my car will
drive again he says it'll just take away the 4wd I'm not
using my 4wd anyways due to another problem so I want
to know if that's an option can anyone tell me ? I just need
to driving again

You need that balance shaft working inside the engine, without it the engine will shake itself apart. It has nothing to do with the 4 wheel drive.
