Does no crank over to start

Asked by Michele Apr 20, 2021 at 11:29 PM about the 2005 Ford Expedition Eddie Bauer

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

05 ford expedition eddie bauer lost
power exiting onto feeder road. Came
to complete stop, shifted to park & to
the off position.  Tried to start it back
up, it would not crank over & still
unable to get it started.  Battery is fully
changed, also checked all battery
cables & has power for radio, lights,
doors & windows. Also installed a new
starter. Makes a clank noise but
doesn't start.
Is anyone familiar with this issue. Any
answers & suggestions would be very
so appreciated.

when you say clank noise, I'm not sure I understand? Does the starter motor crank the engine? I did look at info for your security system, it said starter motor disable among other. You can jump starter relay, just to see if starter motor will crank the engine. Pull relay, use jumper wire on switch side, right side in diagram, 30 and 87, the starter motor should crank the engine. If you try that, make sure transmission is in park or neutral and parking brake is set. Vehicle can't move. Even if you crank it, if security issue, it still isn't going to start.
