Oil Change Notification, how to turn it off?

Asked by Iatemine Oct 07, 2010 at 04:41 PM about the 2006 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 LS RWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have a 2006 Silverado with a 4.3 lyr V6 and I change my own oil regularly. Recently the Oil Change Notification message comes on when I start up the engine and I am having trouble finding out how to turn it off. The description in the owners manual was vague and didn't work. Can anyone help Me?
Thank you!

I am assuming that you do not have the driver information center that tells you the percent of Oil Life remaining not sure but this is what I think it would be done turn the key to ON position, but do not start the engine then push the gas pedal down three times and then on the third time hold the gas pedal down until the Oil change notification light goes away

I know that this is an old post, but I just had this "issue" with my 2009 Chevy Avalanche. The tips above were r to commended on the site below along with the "press the check-mark until it resets to 100% oil life [sic]" --- http://resetservicelight.com/reset-oil-service-light- chevrolet-gmc-trucks-avalanche/. The site included tips for those with the Driver Information Center (DIC), just the odometer "pin" and using the "tap the accelerator" method for GMC / Chevy trucks for multiple model years. | Link: http://resetservicelight.com/reset-oil-service- light-chevrolet-gmc-trucks-avalanche/
