Lost my key to my chevrolet Silverado 1500, tried to hot wire it. Replaced the column, now I can't get it started. Can you help me?

Bought a column for my 2002 chevrolet silverado 1500, from the junk yard. Now I can't
get it to start. Can anyone help me?

It's a security issue. With the old column you could have gone to the dealer with proof of ownership and the vin# and they would have made you a key

When I tried the hot wiring thing, I was told that I probably burnt up some kind of box in the column, when I tried to start it. That's why I got the other column.

You'll have to take it in and get it flashed (dealer)
