Truck stalling

I crank my 2000 Chevrolet Silverado up
every morning and it runs like a charm but I
get 10 or 12 miles down the road it dies
immediately as if I turned the key off. I
recently changed the fuel filter and it was
clogged really bad but didn't help. When it
dies randomly it'll sputter for about 3
seconds then it dies and doesn't do
anything else until I let it sit for about an
hour on the side of the road and then it'll
crank right back up and go about 10 more
miles and do it again. Can someone please
help. Thanks

Could be a couple of things, what size is the engine?
Ok, just looking up some things, So I am thinking a fuel issue. Get some starting fluid and make the truck die like you say, try spraying some starting fluid down the throttle body to see if it fires up. It may only run as much as there is starting fluid, then die again. This would let me know if it is electrical or a fuel issue.
I've had my 2000 with a 5.3 since it was new. Mine would die if I let off the gas until the engine was slightly warm. It's probably not the same problem, but I'll tell you my idea anyway. If my vocab is off, it's because I'm not a mechanic haha. I cleaned the part of the throttle body where the butterfly valve is. There was a lot of gunk built up that was causing the butterfly valve to stick before it was closed, not allowing it to idle. I just took some throttle body/air intake cleaner on a rag and wiped everywhere until it was all gone. Simple, cheap and quick. Hope it works
