How many universal joints are on the front components of a 2000 Chevy Z71 truck?

Asked by Andy9375 Feb 15, 2016 at 02:29 PM about the 2000 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 LS Extended Cab 4WD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

My truck makes a thumping sound when it is in motion.  I think the universal joints need to be replaced.  I'm wondering if I should just replace all the universal joints for the front components of my truck.  I've already replace the rear universal joint.

There are no u-joints in the front of a 2000 Chevy Z71. There are CV joints that may or may not be repairable. I say this because replacing the hole axle is pretty cheap, and saves a lot of time.
