Transfer case or transmission

I have a 2000 Chevy Silverado 4x4 I have a slow
leak where the transfer case meets the tail fin on the
transmission what do I need to do to stop the slow
leak the transfer case has a new seal

I have a 2001 chevy silverado 4×4. What would make the piece between the transmission and transfer case crack and break a part to where it drains the transmission of its fluid? Also does that mean the transmission should be rebuilt? My
