Question type: General

I'm wanting to change gears from 3.43 to 3.73 because when towing these
light loads( 6x12 open trailer or 18ft bass boat) my truck has a hard time
maintaining hwy speeds, trans is constantly changing even with towing
button pushed. Is this the best and easiest way to solve this problem?

Best way to solve the problem is tow in drive ("D" or "3") not overdrive. 3.73s will help but isn't the most drastic difference. Does your truck have the v8 or v6? The v8 with that setup should be adequate.

Always tow in the tow mode. Towing in overdrive will generate excessive heat in the transmission. I agree with Andrew if you have the V-8, you have plenty of truck to tow the boat or the trailer.
