How much do you think I should I get in cash for my 2001 Alero with 80k for my dads vette with 140k?

Asked by Jt3533 May 01, 2013 at 08:18 PM about the 1987 Chevrolet Corvette Convertible RWD

Question type: Shopping & Pricing

My alero does have about $1700 dollars worth of front end damage that I got from my
insurance company. I never did have the repairs done but instead pocketed the money.
The corvette does not have any real damage done to it but their is some spots of paint
that are withering away on front. The corvette runs pretty well for an 1987 vette but does
produce a lot of smoke but runs well for an old car.

It's worth about $2,300 approx. since it's in "Fair" Condition (due to the unfixed damage)...Assuming someone wants to buy it that way (I wouldn't ...front end damage or ANY damage = NO sale in my book)...that person will negotiate down to get repair work done. So I doubt you'd get much more than $500.00 for it ($2,300 - $1,700 = $600). Guess you're trying to get the Vette from Pops, huh....how much is he asking for it? LOL

Yea well the whole idea is I take the vette and get some cash for it so my sister can drive my car. And last time I heard from him he said he'd take $4500 to 4000 cash for it. Theirs a picture attached that shows some of the front damage. The trades not really about looks for my sister but more durability and how long it will last for her through Highschool and college. Thank you for your answer.

If you are giving the car with what looks like cosmetic damage to your sister to drive, why are you asking about selling the Corvette? Is your dad buying the car for your sister and giving you the Vette in trade + the difference? How much do you love your daddy? 3 grand for your car, 3 grand for the Vette. Fair trade? The smoke could be just a tune-up requirement and some TLC. Have a mech check the smoke to see if it is burning oil. If that is the case, the exhaust pipes will be black on the inside. If the smoke is white and has a sweet smell, it may be a head gasket leak. Check the dip stick, and if the oil looks milky in color, the heads need to be pulled and regasketed.
