can i put 1989 corvette computer into 1985 corvette

i have 383 engine in car . computer will not work with that engine.

You should be able too. But finding a computer to run that engine is what you should be looking for. Or you may be able to get a chip for the OBD1 for the 383 engine specs to put into the existing computer. I would need more details on what you did, swap engines, what year engine, how it is set-up and what was originally in the vehicle. Does the engine start up?

it has the original motor and the tpi headers and all switches are all stock. i was told you cannot change chip in 1985 computer that is why i wont to know if a 1989 computer will work.
