1976 sting ray needs work been sitting. What's the value

Asked by Finisher May 03, 2014 at 08:24 PM about the 1976 Chevrolet Corvette Coupe

Question type: Shopping & Pricing

This vet has been sitting. Need paint, tires, seats, brake cylinder. Has 156,000 miles.
And god knows what else. What's a fair price to offer. Need to trailer it 1400 miles if I
buy it. Thank you.

I would start around 1 - 2 thousand. But would be prepared to pay 4 - 5. With order cars such as this it's not really what they are worth but more about what it's worth to the owner and how much a buyer is willing to pay for a part of automotive history.

There is a good looking 1979 vette listed around here for $6499. But have seen some listed for $10000 - $19000. Tried to talk wife into letting add it to my list of toys but that not going to happen. Lol

the Vette you are looking at should only be a couple grand. You should be able to find one closer to your home. The 70, 71 and 72 C3's are the ones most collectors want.

Based on what you're saying and its distance, you should just pass on it... in that condition, it is worth 500-1000 as long as the engine and everything is numbers matching... but by the time you trailer it back to your place and then put money into redoing it, you'll be upside down on it...

It's very hard to give you an idea of the value of any Corvette that we cannot see. However, unless it is a pile of junk, do not believe the $500-$1,000 opinion for any numbers matching Corvette even if it is the lowest powered version ever built. The C3 still gets more than a C4 and you are not going to find one for that low a price. Do some research on Craigslist and see what the average prices are. ALso check NADAs website for an idea.

c3's have a great body style, later ones are lower HP but very nice touring motoring autos. 76 Orange one owner coupe with 64K miles was going for 16K. Spotless so the add says, but from pictures....really nice ride.
