'95 Lexus SC300 with automatic transmission. Suspect transmission problem.

Asked by MMJ54 Jun 07, 2022 at 10:02 PM about the 1995 Lexus SC 300 RWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

My car is a '95 Lexus SC300 with automatic transmission.  I have about
196,000 miles on it.  The car just started lurching when I put it in reverse or
drive after starting the car.  I can also feel the gear changes more while my
speed progresses.  Why?

If it has never been serviced or rebuilt then I think it's time .

Could be sticking shift solenoids, a transmission shop can do stand alone testing to see if it is solenoids or something major. Brace yourself for a big hit to your wallet.

I am the originator of this question. I have gotten my transmission rebuilt and it's running great so far. I have a 12mo/12Kmi warranty. It did not cost me more than $1,500. Jim, I'm glad I didn't take your advice!

WOW That was a very good price and with a decent warranty. So I did turn out to be internal transmission problem.
