How do I replace the starter on a 1988 IROC?

Asked by Guru9V1N5Q Apr 18, 2021 at 01:19 PM about the 1988 Chevrolet Camaro IROC-Z Coupe RWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I am trying to replace the starter on my '88 IROC.  Has anyone come across
this bracket from the back of the starter to the engine block?  Any suggestions
on how to crack loose the bolt that goes into the engine block?  Not much room
there to get any torque on it.  Do I need any special tools?

Can you take piece loose from starter motor and work it, that way? I have seen that support before, in the past. If I remember correctly, I took it loose from starter motor? Of course, you can see it and I can't. Just a thought.
