Question type: Maintenance & Repair

So I recently picked up a 05 Legacy Gt. Thing came
with blown piston rings. So I dropped another
engine in. I drive it around for a week (felt kinda
weak and slow) until boom the ducking rings pop
again. This time I check the cats and notice they’re
all blocked up, I clean the cats out get a warranty
on the motor and drop in a new motor on what’s
bsaiclly a straight pipe set up. I drive around for a
week (still was weak on first gear) or so until boom
the rings pop yet again. I’m getting a new motor
tommorow, I notice the intercooler is clogged up
but I can’t think of any other issue. Could a clogged
intercooler really have blown the rings on 3 different
motors. I can’t drop this new motor in unless I know
the cars gonna be 100% fine this time. Any
suggestions or?

Don’t know if this detail is important but I’m
dropping the 2.0 Japanese in the bay instead of the
2.5 because it’s cheaper and it’s what I can afford

Expand what do u mean by this? If I am running too much boost it’s possibly because of the clogged intercooler causing over boost

I suppose a non functional intercooler could cause detonation due to high charge temperatures.
