Asked by jaychase Mar 30, 2013 at 08:11 AM about the 1995 Subaru Legacy

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have a Subaru. Failed to start.
After checking some things I realized
the fusable link was blown. While
replacing this I found our would
instantly pop the fuse again. I tried
different sizes but they kept blowing.
Any help is priceless right now.

The fusible link is between the starter and alternator. It protects the alternator. If the link melting, the wire or the alternator is grounded.

A melted fusible link should not prevent the engine from starting. It will prevent the recharge of the battery and turn on the dash light.

Ok...with a burnt fuse...there is zero power to the car...nothing happens at all when the key is turned...no lights no nothing.
