Question type: Maintenance & Repair

It seems to have a long crank time before starting sometimes it starts and dies.
Sometimes it starts and surges before dieing and other times it starts and seams to idle
fine.  But it always stalls when put into gear  unless you have your foot on the accelerator.
If you try to Rev it when it doesn't want to idle it will stumble  then pick up but will only
come up to about 3/4 of its power band and act like it has a Rev limiter. It has done this
since I acquired  it.  I  kinda thought fuel pressure   but after sitting last winter the fuel
pump locked up. So it is now new along with the fuel filter. .

Clean the throttle body and IAC,sound like it may not be getting enuff air to the fuel system.

When it does decide to run good it runs real good. You can jump on it and it will come back to idle. Until it is put into gear, then it will die. . But when it is running good. It is as if someone out of the blue flips a switch and it will go back to acting like a pig.. it throws oddball codes 22, 42, 36 are the codes I have seen so far. It is getting pretty frustrating. .

No, I have not done that. . Do you think that the sensor braking down may cause this problem? Every cps problem I have encountered it has either been it works or it doesn't.

Could be,but i think if you have not replaced the crank sensor, that would be a good thing to do,and if that is not the issue, the i agree with you,the ECM.

...so there is no ckp sensor it is obd1 gm.. closest to a ckp it has is a pick up coil and that is more of a cmp if anything. . Should have caught this last night but I was tired. ..
