Question type: Car Selling & Trading In

If I pay cash for a truck on car gurus ,how do I secure the tittle in order to buy
the tags? I can not drive the truck without a new tag. The seller lives in
Kentucky and I live in Tennessee.

That sounds risky. I would meet in person at a notary in Tennessee, making sure the truck and title match, and are in your possession of both before handing over the money. The notary can transfer or issue temporary plates if you have proof of insurance. Find a notary and see what they recommend. Be careful of a scam and take a look at the truck's miles and condition too.

Sounds like a private sell, if so the seller needs to provide you the title and then you can register it. Any other questions can be directed to vehicletitleadvisor@gmail.com

Check with your states DMV. I imagine they have some sort of grace period to allow you to take care of the tags and paperwork.
