Veloster Vs. Civic Vs. Corolla Vs. Mazda3

Question type: Shopping & Pricing

So real quick, I am planning to get a 2nd used car in a couple years after I
graduate college (1st one was sold - don't need one where I attend right
now) and I am torn between these 4 cars:
1. Hyundai Veloster
2. Honda Civic
3. Toyota Corolla
4. Mazda 3

The biggest thing I look for (apart from a sporty look) is Gas Mileage, but
also life expectancy (do they have a breakdown reputation) and cost (some
of these, depending on the generation are already ~$5K-$8K now), but
which model and generation of the model is best? I felt the Civic and
Veloster were best, but I've heard good things about the Mazda 3.

What are your thoughts? Whether you have ever owned any of these or
know quite a bit about them is fine; even word from others is fine or common
opinions/criticisms you've heard works well too. Thanks for your insight :)

Agree, forget the Hyundai and any of the last 3 on the list would be fine.
