99 4x4 chev LS z71 1/2 ton ext cab

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Put truck in reverse to back
out..foot off brake and let it idle
back...never touched gas pedal.
Rolled back about 5 feet and felt
like I hit a wall...sudden stop.
Will go forward but not back.
Push button 4x4..... Put in in 4
hi.....will drive and back.
Put it back in 2 hi and it will back
again for a while then its like
hitting that wall again.
I was told its probably the
actuator on the transfer case??
I am afraid to drive it to town in
case it breaks down on me.  Older
farm gal needs help here please.
