Question type: Maintenance & Repair

My 02 Cougar started out with
tempermental shifting for about 2 weeks.
Shifting late or hard and sometimes soft.
The next day on my way to work. The car
had reverse and only slight forward
movement. Like the trans just called it quits
overnight. Ive replaced the range sensor. But
that didnt help and now im getting a p1401
code. Thats a diffrencial pressure
sensor/(DPFE) and EGR.. So does tha mean
this may resolve my issues?? Is this
tranmission a vacuum system?
