Purchase a V8 no worries, anything less is to small for a "real" pickup Then confirm each manufactures V8 design history...Most are outstanding, after 20+ plus years of refinement they get them designed correctly. Stay away from a NEW design year engines make sure its been proven 5 years or more. NO turbo 4 cylinders, or V6's turbos trying to be LARGE... JUNK, for the unknowing! Read up and decided.

All the full size pickup trucks have timing chains now. I would avoid the Dodge Ram 1500 Eco diesel. Lots of engine failures and a lack of parts to repair them.
