Ok. I know toyota is generally an above average vehicle. I was just curious if there were any major recalls on the avalon. Im looking at maybe purchasing a 2000 avalon. Seller is asking $3500 obo.

2 recalls. Recall Date JUN 05, 2000 Component SUSPENSION:REAR Model Affected Avalon Potential Units Affected 541 Recall ID # 83361 - STEERING Recall Date JUL 29, 2010 Component STEERING Model Affected Avalon

Model Affected: 2000 Toyota Avalon Summary: TOYOTA IS RECALLING CERTAIN MODEL YEAR 2000-2004 AVALON VEHICLES. DUE TO IMPROPER CASTING OF THE STEERING LOCK BAR, THERE IS A POSSIBILITY THAT A MINUTE CRACK MAY DEVELOP ON THE SURFACE OF THE LOCK BAR. SUCH A CRACK MAY EXPAND OVER A LONG PERIOD OF REPEATED LOCK AND UNLOCK OPERATIONS, AND EVENTUALLY THE LOCK BAR COULD BREAK. Consequences: SHOULD THE STEERING LOCK BAR BREAK, THE STEERING WHEEL WOULD LOCK AND THE DRIVER WOULD LOSE THE ABILITY TO STEER THE VEHICLE, INCREASING THE RISK OF A CRASH.
