Question type: Shopping & Pricing

Is it ethical for a private seller to create a 'bidding war' between potential buyers?  Shouldn't they be on Ebay and not Carguru's if they want to do that?

The seller can do whatever they want. You don't have to play the game if you don't want to. When I sell something, it's whoever comes up with the cash first. Back in the day I used to offer items to the first person, but then had other potential customers waiting, only to see the first guy get cold feet.

I agree! Walk away and find a better deal. First come first served is my policy too! Hope that helps! Jim

Thanks for sharing your wisdom. I have taken your advice and moved on. I feel it was the private sellers inexperience that lead to this confusion behavior. When someone is waving a checkbook at you saying they want to buy your vehicle its common sense, at that point, to close the sale. Not to wait for possibly a better offer. They ole saying of a 'bird in the hand'.
