When it rains my car doesn’t start?

Asked by Alanna Apr 18, 2020 at 03:25 PM

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have a 98 Honda Accord and when it rains all
day or pours the night before, it won’t start. If I
start it “at the beginning of the rain” there’s
tends to be no issues.  No lights are on and
my battery is good and the only commonality
is the rain.  If it sits with no rain overnight or
for a whole day, I can drive it just fine with no
issues. When I crank it, it sounds like there’s
no gas but everytime this has happened my
gas has been over half.

Any idea of what this could be?

When a vehicle becomes susceptible to moisture it's an ignition system problem. Sounds like you need a tune up. Replace the distributor cap, distributor rotor, spark plugs, and spark plug wires for a complete tune up and you'll be back on the road again. Rain or shine! Hope that helps! Jim
