I was contacted by email by someone who told me they were selling their van through ebay. Because I trusted ebay, it seemed legit. I just lost $1200 to a scam that went through CarGurus to find me, ie. email.

Anyone who contacts me to buy a vehicle wouldn't sound right. What payment method did you use? Credit card or PayPal? I would dispute the payment and see if you can get it back.
