what will cause an engine to shut down when brakes are applied?

I replaced the master brake cyl. and booster; assure my fuel level isn't low.
Come to a stop; shuts down and must be. started back up. Process of
driving along truck starts to accellerate. Engine ideling high brakes must be
pressed firm to stop . Once control of stop is okay ; idel lower and shuts
off.

Sounds like youn have a serious vacuum leak. Buy a vacuum tester and find the vacuum spec for your truck. Usually most cars will pull around 20 in Hg at idle. Also you should look at your idle control valve and your throttle position sensor. But sitting at idle and pumping your brakes will tell you a lot. If you do that and it stalls, then you have a real vacuum leak somewhere. Start hunting.
