The only difference between the two are the transmissions. The 42RLE is basically the 4-speed, P, R, N, D, and L and was in Magnums from 05-06 model year. It wasn't till 2007 when the NAG1 transmission was introduced as a 5-speed overdrive with Autostick included. One other thing to take note, 05-06 Magnum SXT's as far as I know do not come with fog lights. Most come with steelies with hub caps (and are more likely to be previous rental cars) while some do come with 5-spoke polished wheels. Look around and give it time. I got mine with a $2k trade in for a little more than $14k and 16k miles cause it was a old Chrysler executives car. I can't really say much about the gas milage simply because the motors in these things will make 24 MPG highway easily across all 4 LX models regardless of either trans. When it comes between the battle of the 42RLE and the NAG1, it's at the track, were as my car has very little mods with a NAG1, a friend has quite a few on his with the 42RLE and only .200 separates us at the line. So unless your budget is around $11-14k the 42RLE is ok but if you can spend a little extra get the NAG1 and make the girls scream when you reach that powerband. Have fun! --RS
