Why is my motor jumpy on my 08 suburban

I just bought this used suburban from a car lot "as is" in another state. As I was driving it home, the engine light came on and my motor felt jumpy, periodically. Also, as I was slowing down at a stop light the motor completely cut off. the  Car fax checked out, but no other info on when oil or transmission fluid, ect. was changed. I have an appt to take it in and hook up to a machine to see whats going on with it, but I'm a woman and I don't want to get screwed over and have them say other things are wrong with it when it may not be. Please help.

It sounds like a coil misfiring. Take it to advance or autozone they will test it for free. Log back on here with the code and we will try and help you fix it.
