Question type: Maintenance & Repair

When I hook up a computer to my truck to figure out some problems all the computer tells me to is to make sure the ignition key is on. I turn the key on and I still get the same reading from the computer. Anybody know what might be the problem so I can get a diagnostic reading??

Go to your basics - There needs to be power at the OBD2 connector for the scanner to negotiate with the on board computer system - Check fuses. If all are good check pin 16 for power and 4/5 for ground. If all checks out your scnner connection might be corroded or not connecting properly to the connector on the vehicle.
