Would it be better to put a LS or a newer LT motor for my 94 Camaro

neither option is the best for you. your best option is sell the current car you ahve and find a different one with the ls1 in it already.

to put a new engine than 94 would mean changing the ECM(computer) and wire harnesses. You can always add to this engine to push more horses.
