Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Hey everyone I need help!!
I have a 08 jeep grand cherokee which I just got..was driving for week all
fine. One morning I went to start it and a random noise like a faint knock
appeared and was constant in the front..I went to put reverse it died,
restarted when I put in D it didnt have any power like it was bogging out. A
red lightening bolt appeared on the dash. Engine light  on and I put computer
to it and its throwing E2299? It was driving but I crossed a busy street and
needed to go and it just was struggling. We tried to drive it to familys garage
a couple miles down road it ended up being towed. It still starts.

What could this be where do I start? I  will be having compression test done
to HOPEFULLY rule out motor.

1 Answer

the red lightening bolt is....Electronic Throttle Control Warning Light: What looks like a lightning bolt, this warning light signifies that there is a problem with the Electronic Throttle Control system. When you see this, you will want to safely bring your vehicle to a stop and place it in Park.
