I have a 1998 Pontaic Grand Prix GTP, there are two parts on the gas tank. One is the pump itself. What is the other one for?

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

We had to drop my gas tank due to serious gas fumes & of course found a
crack in the gas tank. However, we have worked on many cars and never seen
this before. There are two pieces installed on the gas tank itself, one being the
fuel pump. What is the other piece? It comes out just like the fuel pump does,
but no strainer, made differently. Just curious as to what it is.

I think it is the return line that goes to the canister that is located in the back of the car by the rear wheel....https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mC-j_yPS_P8
