idle control sensor

Asked by Mrushing3 Jun 10, 2018 at 12:12 PM about the Ford F-150

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

The motor is not idling in one position.  It will literally shut off once you are out
on the road, you have to keep it running and it s[pits and backfires.  It flucuates
and revs up and down.  I have replaced oxygen sensors, gas modulator, and
several other things.

What is model year and engine size? Any applicable trouble codes? Check and clean anything that has to do with idle air system. I know some fords have problems with maf sensor, where applicable. With everything off, unplug it and take it for a spin, see if does any better. If better, check the maf system.
