Rpm gauge stays at 0 when car is started. After a bit it starts to bounce then returns to normal functions. Check engine light just came on and I pulled the code p2401. Car is a 2005 toyota matrix.

P2401 is EVAP, emissions related. Has nothing to do with tach. That sounds like a loose connection. It has power supply, a data lead for rpm from either ECU or coil depending on what year/engine and ground
