Oil Pressure?

2004 Passat - had no problems and now car can be driving normally and just
suddenly cuts out with "oil pressure" warning showing
Leave engine off for a few mins and car will start up again with no probs but
will cut out later (Mins, Days or weeks between problems
Anyone any idea?

The 1.8T engines has technical service bulletin about loss of oil pressure the pub data is 2010-01-27

Also, double check what fuel you're using. The Passat has a high-octane engine that needs premium fuel for proper combustion. This warning could be from prolonged use of lower-octane fuel and improper combustion.
