94 suburban 4x4 doesn't work

4x4 light comes on but doesn't function

Sounds like the transfer case shift motor quit working, you can try lightly tapping on it with a small hammer while someone pushes the button and see if it runs it into 4WD, but take it back out if it does run cause it might just stick there and then your stuck driving it in 4WD until you can replace the motor assembly, unless you want to take it off and reset the transfer case manually and cover the hole with duct tape. Note, this should be done on flat level ground with the trans in nuetral, the wheels blocked. You do not want any load on the drive train.
