Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Vehicle has trouble starting in the morning only. It seems that it doesn't have enough current to start in the morning only, light dim enough cranks but it won't turn over, after 3-5 times then it starts. The rest of the day it is fine.

Battery has not been changed in 4 year. Rebuild engine with 15K miles well kept. Original starter, new condenser, new radiator, change fuel filter 6 months ago. New fuel injectors. Tune up approx. 2 years.

Took out spark plug has a little white powder at the tip but was not oily or burned. They were changed approx. 1.7-2 years ago when engine was rebuild. Also changed wires. Just changed trans oil/gasket/filter a week ago.

Any idea how to trouble shoot this, remember trouble starting cold only in the morning, the rest of the day it's fine, no code light on dash at all.

Hi cvcg! The key to intermittent problems are to troubleshoot them while they occur of course. Hers is a no-start troubleshooting guide to get you started. Hopefully it will help you eliminate some of the possibilities. I hope it helps. Good luck! http://www.samarins.com/diagnose/index.html

is just the tip of the plug white? what color is the bottom of the plug... this is not your starting problem but it could mean your running lean, first things first have the battery checked, dont know why it would start after 3 to 5 times if it were the battery but its worth a check, dose it make a clicking noise on the trys when it dosnt start? or does it just turn over slowly? if it turns over slowly its prob the batt... if it just clicks or does nothing check the batery terminals and ground, postive wire that goes to the starter... clean them up and make sure there not loose, and check the starter suloniod
