My 1997 Malibu has a fuel gage that flips upside down whenever we change the battery or the battery goes dead. How can we get it back to where it is supposed to be?

How often does your battery go dead? That's odd. I am assuming it's a digital fuel gauge and I have no idea why it would flip upside down. It seems like it would be a software glitch or wires or something like that. Very strange.
